Project details:
Kris Battles is an artist and a marine. In June 2006, he was commissioned by the United States Marine Corps to be a combat artist. Including Kris, there are only three combat artists currently serving under the History Division in Quantico, VA. As far as we know, this is the only branch of the military commissioning artists as soldiers.
Ends of the Earth Productions is raising funds to produce a full-length documentary that will record Kris' work and what is going on in the parts of Iraq where he will be deployed. We will show monthly logs of his footage on this site as he narrates what he is going through during his 90 day deployment. Upon his return, we will take all the footage and produce a full-length documentary titled, The Art of Combat.
We have had some major interest by large companies and donated supplies/services already, but we still need to raise funds in order to get the project off the ground. As an independent filmmaker, I have put in my own money and time for this project to get started, but to finish it, I need funds for the following: international shipping costs, as well as entry fees for the upcoming film festivals. We are looking for people willing to sponsor this film any donations are accepted and welcome. Because this is an independent film project, the military will not supply any funding for production of the documentary.
